Feeling drained of strength and life is quite normal for a migraine sufferer. Even now the number one factor for the cause of migraine is considered to be stress in certain sectors. Still, even now, science does not fully understand migraine, its causes or what can remedy it.

It is believed though that migraine is hereditary and although they affect the mind; their cause is caused by a biological problem. It is possible to stop the migraine attack before it has actually becomes overwhelming as studies in humans and rats have proved. Drugs such as the Triptan group can be administered at anytime during a migraine attack as has been shown when tried on humans as well as rats. Prescribed medication can help in reducing the frequency of attacks and the severity.

Migraine symptoms aren't just about a throbbing headache along one side of the head but regular sufferers also feel sick, hate light and don't sleep very well. While the headache is the classic area of head pain, it can also extend to the forehead and eyes also around the jaw to ear area of the head.

It is not just a pain that is an inconvenience; people that suffer from intense migraines cannot even go to work or carry out any daily routine task. A recent study showed that by avoiding wheat and dairy products, long known for their allergies, eighty five percent of migraine sufferers became headache free, a recent article in the Lancet pronounced. Alternative medicine has also seen the correlation between food allergies and migraine headaches.

You must not discount the use of magnets for migraine victims either; their health benefits are well documented as they stimulate the production of hormones in the body. One of the first migraine prevention techniques was to increase the amount of riboflavin the migraine victim required as riboflavin is part of the energy producing process for the body and scientists observed that migraine sufferers had faulty energy production in their brain cells.

There are a large number of alternative therapies and treatments currently available for migraine victims but there is little evidence that these solutions are any better than conventional methods at reducing the number of attacks or relief from the attack itself.

Whatever you do, don't listen to what worked for someone else because it may not work as well for you. By keeping a diary or journal you may get a clearer picture on what works and what doesn't and communicating this information to your Doctor may enable him or her to use a different approach in treating your migraine headaches.
