Very few cities in Europe can compete with Paris as a romantic destination,it's location straddling the banks of the river Seine make it a beautiful city to visit.

Paris short stays of a few days, often over a long weekend are the normal way to see it,the desire to stay longer is strong as there is so much to see and do.

A city famous for its fabulous architecture, good food, wine, street markets and galleries, including famous sights like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe to name just two internationally famous landmarks.

Traveling around Paris is relatively easy for visitors as well as locals, there is a superb underground rail system called the Metro which is efficient and easy to understand.

You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it's over three hundred meters high,it can be seen from any point within the city and the superb views just can't be matched by those looking at it from the ground.

In the evening the illumination means it can be seen for many miles, guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.

If you plan on spending some of your traveler's checks in Paris, then a trip down the Champs Elysees is an essential part of a trip,it's where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants.

This avenue is well worth a visit to see how the wealthy live, top class hotels are found here, although if you want to stay at a more reasonably priced hotel, they are available outside of the city center.

This city is also the home to the renowned Louvre Museum, with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. A short stay in Paris only ever allows a small appreciation of what is on offer, with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa to view in addition to some of the finest collections of art in the world.

Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world's famous artists, the likes of Monet, Picasso and many others lived in the city for years and some of their work can still be seen today.

The famous 19th century edifice built on Napoleons instructions, the Arc de Triomphe, is also in Paris,to honor his generals (and his troops) he had their names inscribed upon it.

The Arc is the focal point of the city and contains an observatory to view the local area,it can be found in Charles de Gaulle Place at the intersection of twelve avenues including the Champs Elysees.

Obviously, these are not the only places to visit, although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free.

Unfortunately, short stays in Paris can be demanding on visitors, the churches, cathedrals and other museums will just have to wait for another time.
