| Becareful When You Get A Budget Car Rental While On Holidays |

Using budget car rentals could be the way to enjoy an independent vacation without the hassle of costly taxi rides and the time wasted waiting for them to collect you. However, the rental car market can be fiercely competitive so be careful you are not given a car with an engine that would be better fitted to a bike. Ok, so I may be exaggerating a little but it is something you have to look out for because the last thing you want is to have a car that is not going to be of any use. So, just to help, I have made a written down a few pointers to help.
I have found that using the internet is a good way to rent a budget car because some sites let you set a limit on what you are prepared to pay. Some of these sites are just comparison sites but well worth your time as they have done all the hard work for you. Look for package deals, fly-drive-stay, or fly-drive, most of these packages give great discounts for rentals, but don't do it with an airline. Of course the airlines realize they have a captive audience when people visit their site to book a flight and do not need to discount their car rental.
Just remember that you are likely to come across some amazing deals on the internet if you look. Some budget car rental sites even go as far as internet only discounts. Do not always take the first offer that comes your way, unless you are limited on time because there are bound to be other discount offers around if you have the time to take a look. Don't forget that the only effort required to find these car rental deals is to logon to the internet, how easy is that.
Sometimes, just when you think you have managed to get a really good car rental deal, you find your credit card company has another surprise when you realize it has organized a discount with the company on top of any you have already arranged. If you are a member of the military or government, you may be eligible for discounts negotiated with a number of budget car rental companies on your behalf.
The only problem you may find is that a budget rental car may not have been looked after with the same care as a more reputable company and there may some damage which you do not want to be liable for. Not only the outside but also check the inside and make sure all the controls etc. work as the last thing you want is a hefty repair bill when you return the car.
Before you decide to use the budget rental car company's insurance, take a look at your own policy as you will probably find that it covers rental vehicles as well. Although the insurance on a budget car rental isn't going to be costly, there is no point in paying out twice if your current auto insurance will cover you. Car rental insurance is always required when you rent a car.
If like me you like to have you car upgraded, then try arriving at the budget rental car company's offices as they open and you may find that owing to the number of cars that have not been returned at that time, you may be offered an upgrade at no charge. |
